THE SPANISH government is offering grants to study foreign languages abroad, students at Santa Cruz' state language school learnt on Wednesday.

The Ministry of Education is seeking applicants for up to 25,000 overseas scholarships – each worth up to €1,700 – in the €42.5 million project.
Students between the ages of 18 and 30 can apply for funding to learn English, French and German among native speakers between June 1 and November 30 2010 – providing that the course of study is longer than three weeks and 15 hours per week.
The deadline for applications through the website www.infobeca.com is March 30.
Some 2,500 study grants have also been offered to teachers – for courses of six 20-hour weeks up to a value of €2,100.
