TENERIFE was in the running for the Luxury Tourism Award at the Swiss International Tourism Fair in Lugano on Thursday.

The winner will be named during the trade fair which runs from Thursday to Saturday, in some 120 companies from thirty countries will take part.
The 'Tenerife Select' stand will showcase the island's luxury tourist accommodation, culinary delicacies and leisure activities such as theme parks, golf courses and shopping centres.
The delegation will meet about 40 tour operators and travel agents specialising in premium holidays.
Turismo de Tenerife director José Manuel Bermúdez said that that the nomination: “confirms that we are one of the leading luxury destinations throughout Europe."
He added that: "The presence of the island in this event will also enable us to present our most exclusive offers to thousands of professional luxury travel buyers who are scheduled to attend the fair."
