A specially-chartered aircraft was waiting to fly Ms Haidar from Lanzarote's Guacimeta airport, where she had been on hunger strike since November 15, to her home town of Laayoune in the Moroccan-occupied Western Sahara.
She had been taken to hospital by ambulance shortly after midnight after suffering severe nausea and abdominal pains.
Hospital sources said that Ms Haidar had vomited blood and was severely dehydrated after more than a month without food and only sugared water to drink.
