GÜÍMAR council announced on Thursday that it had towed away 174 abandoned vehicles from the small town in 2009.

The town hall said that by removing the dumped cars, motorcycles and lorries from the streets they had improved the environment and made parking easier.
Güímar council added that if the owners of the vehicles wished to save them from the crusher, they should go to the local police with their ID, vehicle log book and ownership documents.
